THE IDEA: Invite your friends into your home for an intimate evening of live music and good cheer while raising money for a great cause – and it’s tax deductible! (Don’t have a house suited for this type of an event but know of a venue willing to host a party? That’s great too!)
THE GENERAL LAYOUT : These are very flexible guidelines. I am open to most any variation; this just gives a feel for the general concept. The host would provide a space for an informal concert setting and a confirmed list of guests excited about donating to the cause. The host and guests are all encouraged to provide food and beverages to share. The evening begins with a cocktail hour, and then moves on to the live music portion of the event. I will play an hour and a half set of original music, sharing the songs and the stories behind them. Then, it’s back to the party.
THE GOAL: My hope is to raise $2000 per concert. This would be evenly contributed by those attending the event. Again, this is a general guideline, with plenty of room for flexibility.
THE CAUSE: As the support and rebuilding effort continues on St. John, I have decided to focus my attention on The Island Health and Wellness Center. It is a non-profit (501c3) primary care health facility on the island. Most people in the Virgin Islands don’t have access to health insurance because private health care plans are not offered and few small businesses are able to offer benefits to their employees – St. John is comprised primarily of small businesses. The two major resorts that did offer benefits to their employees were both forced to lay off most of their staff after substantial hurricane damage. When the health center opened shortly before the storms it had already become an important resource because it charges very affordable rates for office visits and lab work. Since the center does not turn away patients due to an inability to pay, its role on the island is critical now more than ever. The facility was destroyed during Hurricane Irma. Thankfully, they were able to relocate and have recently re-opened their doors. To read more about the Island Health and Wellness Center, check out http://www.islandhealthcenter.org/

CAN’T HOST A CONCERT BUT STILL WANT TO DONATE: That’s cool too! Follow this link: http://www.islandhealthcenter.org/donate/
ALL MY THANKS TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON THAT HAS HELPED TO SUPPORT THE HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT! WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU.
SINCERELY, ERIN HART
